Re: My old trusty tank quit

One more thought the other day when I called APRIA RIPOFF the lady that I talked to said and I quote..."You are covered 100% for a new machine" When I asked does that include Medicare? She said "What ever Medicare does not cover" and she was very specific "Blue Cross-Blue Sheild Federal Employee Health Benefit will pay the remainder" When I asked do I have a deductible she said "No you do not need to pay any out of pocket money for this replacement machine" So what happened from Thursday 05Nov09 until Monday 09Nov09 ? When they started demanding a new sleep study and a new letter of Medical Necessity, and then saying that they had to get approval from Medicare and BC/BS FEHB ? Also I talked to both Medicare and BC/BS FEHB and the people that I talked with said that all I needed to do was submit a prescription to any DME to get a new machine being as it was in my Medical files that I have OSA ! Go figure.

Ok Pat, I'm NOT suggesting you do this, just saying I got some pleasure from my imaginations.... Tell them this is a bunch of horse pucky, and just so they'll know it next time they see it, have some of your wife's equestrian friends pack them up a box.....
I know, that's bad. Oh well.
Sorry you're having such a hard time with this.

I used to resent having to take time out of life to sleep. If I'd known sleep would become such a rare commodity, I would have treasured it more, lingering in it's warm embrace instead of pushing it aside to rush into another busy day.

Wonder if saying you've talked to a lawyer so your wife knows what she can sue them for when you die from their failure to provide breathing ventilation might get them moving?

Hope springs eternal in the human breast.

Since Apria continues to screw up, deceive, lie, twiddle their thumbs (or, remembering Nero, fiddle their violin) and on an on, it is time for all, except the masochists, to admit defeat in changing Apria's DME attitude and business approach/policy.

I gave up on "Hope springs eternal ..." regarding Apria in early 2006 after my local Apria screwed up 3 of 3 RXs which delayed for two months my getting the FF mask that was specified in my first RX and that I requested when I went to their new user class (Apria gave me and everyone else in class a Nasal mask w/o a chinstrap). I have been a mouth breather for almost 40 years due to only partially successful sinus/nose surgery in the early 70s. After two months of struggling without having the right mask, I quit CPAP in April 2006 and didn't try again until March 2009.

Yesterday 17Nov09 at 1302 hrs. The local Manager of APRIA RIPOFF San Diego, calls and says they received all of the required paperwork. Said that they would call within the hour with an appointment time. @ 1405 hrs. They called said that I could go into the San Diego Location at 1530 hrs. on 18Nov09 and pick up the machine. At 1458hrs the manager calls and says that their insurance people will not except the sleep study the prescription and or the letter of Medical Necessity from my doctor. So today I call the sleep doctor. His office says to bring my old machine in and they will read the card submit a couple of forms and I should be able to get the new machine. One of the kickers is I told the manager at APRIA RIPOFF the doctor's name. They said oh with a letter of Medical Necessity from him we can rent you a machine until he does a sleep study then Medicare will pay for it.

I will call the insurance again. APRIA RIPOFF still SUCKS!
Also APRIA RIPOFF said that I had to show 21 days of compliance before Medicare/BCBS FEHB would authorize payment for the machine. Also I called the local consumer advocate on one of the local television stations. I would call my Congressman but that idiot voted for the new healthcare plan.

Glad to hear you have a new machine now, Patrick. You've really been through the mill. You deserve "good" to come your way. Hope you have a very happy holiday season and plenty of smooth breathing nights! :)
